Can something be TOO sweet? Is 500 times sweeter than sugar “too sweet”? Well, that’s how sweet Maggie describes her blog Ramblings of Maggie @ CoffeeShopMafia.
Also always I start at Maggie’s about page, which is best described in Maggie’s own words:
In love, two kids, Single mom, work full time, own my own home, drive a mini van, love computers, spend to much time in front of said computers, good sense of humor, sometimes only I get my humor, Executive Assistant, Grew up in town next to where I live now, Once was a sassy temp, Not a sassy temp anymore. I like to camp with my honey, drink coffee with him, surf and eat chinese food. We like to cook and I don’t like to clean. I have a quick Portuguese temper but it passes quickly. Some have said i’m “crazy” but I think I’m just a normal stressed out women.
Sounds pretty sweet to me, except for the whole Portuguese temper…that’s more spicy than sweet I would think. I don’t know if I’d necessarily describe this blog as Magnanimous…but that’s only because I try not to use words that I don’t entirely know what they mean. Anyway, I’m just kidding, any mom who has two kids and finds the time to share stories and pictures about them is certainly magnanimous. Also, magnanimous sounds a lot like “Maggie” which may be what she was going for in the first place.

Sweet Catastrophe…21 and Invincible! <-- I love the name and the tagline of this blog. I guess I can't really put it into words. It just seems like the blog of someone with a good sense of humor with a unique perspective on life (and anyone who is unique is a good writer, at least for the fact that they're not just regurgitating the same old stuff we've all read a million times before). After inspecting this blog a little further, I can see that I am right.
The place I start on most blogs (and something that is missing from my own, though I intend to add it sometime) is the About Page. On Jade’s about page, I learned a lot very quickly, which puts everything else into perspective. She’s a 21 year old General Studies major at a school in Georgia. She’s got a cat, a boyfriend, a roommate…she’s goofy, souther, but not girly.
I have to mention the top post on her blog for my own benefit, maybe no one else will care, but it is entitled “U + Me = Calculus”. It reminds me (I assume intentionally on Jade’s part) of a 2000 made-for-MTV movie about the formation of a boy band (they were still hot back then). Anyway, the whole reason I bring it up is because it was the first movie my wife and I ever saw together (though at the time, we weren’t even boyfriend and girlfriend yet).
Anyway, Jade did an excellent job putting a big smile on my face with that post, I’m sure (at least) one of her funny posts will put a big smile on your face too!

Before you can successfully start reading this blog, you first gotta check out the cast: Peg’s Players over at Peggy as she is. You see, Peggy doesn’t like to use real names for her family members and close ones, so she has cute aliases (Secret Admirer, Mommy Dearest, etc.) for them all. Peggy is a corporate suit turned self-employee who refuses to ever return to that cold corporate world.
This is a great blog with a lot of cute stories and good insight, definitely worth checking out. But at the time of this writing, Peggy is in a bit of a time of need and maybe could use some consoling.
You see her “Secret Admirer” (aka husband of 6+ years) was recently in a motorcycle accident. He dislocated his hip in such a severe “unusual” way that he had to be airlifted to a special hospital. Peggy posts an update where she lets us know that he is doing well (given the circumstances) and will be in surgery TODAY to remove bone chips around the top of his femur, which is fractured.
So, if you have a minute to stop by Peggy’s Blog today, please, please, PLEASE do!

I had visited this blog quite a few times a few weeks ago and was really impressed with its concept and the work so far by the author. Now, I visit it once more to work on this review and I see not only more of the good stuff from before, but now the site also LOOKS incredible! It’s Random Acts of Kindness.
The idea is simple. One guy doing his part to make the world a better place via random acts of kindness. He hopes that his kind doings will become popular and inspire others to follow in his footsteps. In fact every Friday, he makes a post asking what kind acts his readers have done.
He’s already up to 26 kind acts (most recently praying for firefighters). I bet many of us would be hard pressed to come up with 26 kind acts we’ve done for others. He has also helped in the garage, showed his mother some appreciation, and encouraged a friend.
So what kind acts have you done lately???

Well last week we had the “Hottest Mom” blog, today, the “Hottest Mommy.” Not sure what the difference is, but I’ll tell ya what I do know: people are a fan of the mom bloggers. Today’s winner is the ever popular eastcoastlife.
You wouldn’t necessarily think it looking at this blog’s template (a default blogspot choice), but eastcoastlife has developed a massive fan base. You know, I get excited when a post gets 10 or 20 comments, then I know I’ve done a good job providing interesting content. Well, imagine how good I must be doing if I got 53 comments or 72 comments or better yet 96 comments. Well, that’s how many eastcoastlife has on just their most recent 3 posts (all within the past week).
With that many people stopping by regularly, reading what you’re putting up, and adding to the discussion, eastcoastlife doesn’t need me to tell her she’s doing a great job, I’m sure her readers have told her that time and time again! Congratulations to on an excellent blog!

Wow, what a blast from the past. This was the very first review I did on my old site. And if it were up to me (and not the votes), it probably would’ve been the very first I reviewed here.
The blog in question is The “Not-So” News. This blog is a hilarious satire and parody blog of actual news stories, but with incredibly fake ones instead (they also happen to be hilariously funny, unlike they’re “actually happened” counterparts).
Did you know that a cell phone could save your life? Or that drug dealers have recently found a new niche to sell to? Or perhaps that planet Earth may soon be deemed inhabitable? None of these stories actually happened (that I know of), but real news is boring!

Today’s Best Blog of the Day is another good one (though aren’t they all).
Life in Black and White is written by Megha Mathur from Australia. It’s a relatively new blog, but this will be the second award it has received in its short life.
The part that I like best about this blog (besides the entertaining posts on topics ranging from pets to plastics, from Pretty Woman to pickles)…anyway the part I like best is the gallery of black and white photographs down the left hand side of the blog. It really ties in with the overall theme and name of the blog. Plus, I am a sucker for black and white. My wife have a bedroom that we painted the walls gray and completed decorated it with black and white art. It’s really nice, maybe almost as nice as this blog

I’ve already reviewed this blog, but I am more than happy to do it again, happily seeing that it is still going strong just 1 week short of exactly 1 year later. It’s the Ordinary Adventures of Tomas!
You see, Tomas is an imaginary friend that is always getting himself into trouble, pondering the true meaning of life, and dealing with the stresses of every day life. Tomas is just like you and me, but he just happens to be invisible. This is an awesome blog with a unique concept, funny pictures, and a little bit of thought provoking!

I’m not gonna pretend like being best blog of the day is the biggest honor there ever was for a blogger…but it just so happens that this good news comes tacked on to a day with bigger good news already. The blogger over at Memoirs of an Inmates Wife, just found out today that a poem she wrote back in January is to be published! What an honor, congratulations!
Please do yourself a favor, check out this great blog, read the soon-to-be-published poem, and say hi to the Inmate’s Wife.

What can I say about this great blog, Mimi Writes? This was one of the first blogs I was exposed to and one of my first daily reads. Every time I find myself wandering in there, I spend way too much time browsing around! There are a lot of enjoyable posts, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the fabulous project Mimi spearheaded.
Mimi is the creator of the Peace Globe Movement. What this was was a conglomeration of bloggers who all custom designed an image of a globe and all posted it on their blogs on the same day as a symbol of the need for peace. I don’t know if Mimi would call this her life’s work, but if I had done it, it would have been my life’s work for sure. I don’t know of the exact total of how many people have participated to date, but check out the official site here to be amazed!

Today’s Best Blogof the Day is a recent favorite of mine, The Nature Fact File. It’s very interesting when a blog on a specific topic like this behaves like a regular old personal blog.
What I’m talking about is this blog is a regular participant of the popular Wordless Wednesday and Thursday Thirteen memes…but they are always on topic, always exclusively about nature. Here are some of the better ones…
Wordless Wednesdays: Fox, World’s Largest Thing
Thursday Thirteens: Cat Facts, Insect Trivia, Indian Mangoes
So, check out Nature Fact File for an interesting blend of educational nature and fun weekly memes!

Mom Knows Everything. Well, that might be up for debate…but I’ll give you at least Mom Knows More Than Dad. This is a great blog by Tammy, mother of two. I’m not sure how a mother of two finds the time (or energy) to regular maintain a blog, but by your votes, I guess Tammy is doing a great job of it!
Are you gonna find thought provoking political insight on this blog? No, of course not! Are you gonna find tons of cute photos and cute stories? Absolutely! So head on over to Mom Knows Everything. Why? Because I said so!!!

Well, it seems like only a formality that last year’s Bestest Blog of the Year get himself in the running for a repeat victory next year. I, of course, am talking about Bond’s Big Leather Couch. Click here if you wanna check out Bond’s last winning review.
What can I say about “The Couch” that hasn’t already been said? The name of the blog is absolutely perfect. “The Couch” is more than just one blogger disseminating his thoughts on all those who dare read them…it’s more of a community, where blog posts spark conversation in comments and often become longer and more fun to read than the posts themselves. I mean anyone who can muster 28 comments on a post about baseball on a blog that normally has nothing to do with baseball is doing something right.
Plus, Bond is notorious for commenting on other’s blogs just as much as they comment on his. When I was doing my rounds for the “Bestest Blog of the Year” contest, leaving little comments on everyone’s blog to keep them updated, I would say Bond had already commented on about 30-40 blogs. He truly is the epitome of how to be a successful, friendly, popular, interesting, and powerful blogger. I know this award pales in comparison to his “yearly” victory, but I think he’ll enjoy it none the less!

Not many blogs can get away with referring to themselves as boring right in the name, but based on your votes I guess Boring Political Diatribes is doing OK! I guess it’s kinda a reverse psychology thing. “This blog is boring!” “Wow, I need to see just how boring it is!”
But there’s a subliminal message here in the URL: http://greatthoughtsandobservationsbyme.blogspot.com/. Hmm, so is it great or boring? Hardly seems it could be both.
Check out his Monthly Machiavelli’s (that’s the blogger’s name) where he recognizes someone with “Outstanding Political Acumen” (I don’t know what that word means, but I’m guessing it’s a good thing!) He even really enjoyed a movie I really enjoyed too! So, go ahead and give this blog a look…

Welcome back Bestest Bloggers. It’s Monday morning and today’sBest Blog of the day is Life in the Health Lane.
This is a pretty cool blog that offers tips and tricks for daily living. For example, do you drink a lot of soda? Well, are you familiar with soda’s effects on obesity, tooth decay, obesity, bone risks, and malnutrition? Worse yet, there’s an article on the effects of alcohol on the brain.
Maybe you’d be interested in a more positive review, like how cod liver oil could be considered a superfood or the antioxidant powers of drinking tea. Whatever your life style, you’re sure to find a lot of helpful educational info from blogger Megha Mathur.

MomReviews: All the reviews that you can use! That is today’sBest Blog of the Day. I’ll admit this was my first time checking out this blog, so I thought a good place to start was the 100 Things About Me page and I certainly learned a lot. Elizabeth (the titular Mom) is a mother of 3, though her husband and she didn’t necessarily want kids at first. She is celebrating her 2 year anniversary of blogging, and is very thankful her blogging friends helped her get through 2 months of bed rest. Plus, she loves the TV show “24″ (as do I!)
Elizabeth has just gotten back from BlogHer, which is exactly what it sounds like, a blogging convention just for women. They gave away a lot of free stuff, and since she is running a “review” website, she’s excited to get reviewing on all of em! She’s got a fair share of a couple different types of reviews: personal, product, and website.
I had fun writing a review of a review site. Perhaps said review site will review me in thanks for reviewing her. Did that make any sense??

This blogger self-proclaims their blog “the most nothing.” Well it’s gotta have something good if her peer bloggers voted her the best today. Today’s winner is I Am Woman, See Me Blog, by one of my favorite bloggers, Lizza from the Philippines (yesterday’s winner was from India…will we have any American winners??)
I’ve actually been a fan of Lizza’s for almost a year now, since she was a winner on my old blog. One thing I loved then, loved now, and will love for as long as she does it is her Blogworld Saturday, where she features what’s going on on some of her favorite blogs around the blogosphere. It’s definitely worth a read!

Today’sBest Blog of the Day is Infinitely Crazy, from blogger “The Crazy King of Clowns” all the way from India.
One post you really might enjoy reading is his Blog Carnival of Craziness, featuring about 20 of the craziest posts from all over the blogosphere. He’s also got a couple killer Wordless Wednesdays (many of which he already nominated for Funniest Picture).
This is a really great blog if you’re looking for some really weird and crazy stuff from all over the internet. Isn’t that why they invented the internet in the first place, so we could post pictures of banana art???
