What’s up at BB? : Site News
October 3rd 2007 · Posted by Kevin O'Boyle · Comments
Well as you may or may not have all noticed, we have not been posting much content lately. The fact of the matter is the site has grown astronomically, and we can’t keep up on the advertising end. The result is having over 61,000 visitors to this blog for the month of September, and less than 4,000 visitors to BlankestBlank.com.
So what does that all mean? That means that while people are tremendously interested in the end results, we just aren’t getting enough votes/nominations to fuel the daily feed. As much as I enjoy writing blog posts each day, I must admit some of the content (specifically MFG and Video) has been lacking in the creative department.
The solution to this matter is that Bobby and I have decided to “take off” the month of October (meaning no daily posts here, other than updates) and really focus on Blankest Blank 2.0. This will result in a much more functional layout, as well as giving us more tools to attract more return visitors. Since it’s inception, Bobby has gone on to obtain a job as a PHP coder/web developer, and I have quadrupled my knowledge of Illustrator/Photoshop. We think that with a little time, energy, sweat and tears, we can help make this site even better, more professional and more appealing.
With this in mind we ask & urge (read: beg & plead with) you to send in any helpful ideas you might have to make this website better. The more we grow and the better we become, the more you, the user get out of the site. So if you have anything you want to add, feel free to post it here, or blankestblank@gmail.com.
The exciting news is that we are coming back and better than ever! You heard us talk about it, now it becomes a reality: MONTHLY CATEGORIES! That’s right, now you winners go on to compete head-to-head with the cream of the crop each month to determine who is truly the best.

Also, stay tuned for more information about Blankest Blank’s first ever, Best Halloween Costume Contest! (More details to follow!)
Thanks for hanging in there with us and we look forward to an amazing future at Blankest Blank and Bestest Blog!

well 4,000 visitors isn’t too shabby it’s about 4,000 more than I get. I’m not sure what to suggest for Blankest Blank. I personally don’t really like it. In theory it’s a great idea but I find that it gets a bit boring rating blogs and the other things on there. Because lets face it the majority of the blogs, jokes, videos that are submitted really aren’t worth a second glance so why bother rating them and sifting thru all the junk to find the one gem. That is just my opinion.
I really miss Bobby’s bestestblogofalltime.blogspot. That was a great idea and I would always check that at least a few times a day. I never really understood why he left behind that simple but very successful idea. You know the old say if it’s not broke don’t fix it.
Here is my suggestion, I would go back to the idea of Bobby’s original blog and just scrape blankest blank. Everyone enjoyed Bobby’s original blog and I’m sure alt of people miss it. You two might be spreading yourselves too thin with this blog, blankest blank and fechr. You might want to focus your ideas a bit more into just one site/blog.
Just my humble opinion.

Never did understand why he abondoned The Bestest Blog either. I though that was a great blog and very successful. I occasionaly go to the new one…..the reason I am at this one is because I tried to get to the original BB from my blogroll and it transferred me over here. My suggestion is to revive the original and give it up on the other one. It’s too complicated for me and kind of sucks.

I am with Mike. It is just too much. Stick with blogs. That is what your audience DOES…we blog. And the catagory things on the blogs…Funniest, Smiliest…that is just, well, silly.
As for Blankest, there are still way too many spam and trade blogs. Go look at the top ten blogs from your year end contest. NONE of us were trade/travel/real estate etc blogs. We are people blogging about our lives. And what is the point of voting if once you have voted you can never vote again? How exactly does that work for calculating blog of the day? Go back to how it was done before. Nominated by people who actually READ these blogs.
I don’t know. Frankly this is all starting to feel smarmy.
Once again the wiff of exploitation of your bloggers for money is in the air.
